Providing correct aquarium care is the sure fire way to prevent saltwater fish illnesses. Saltwater fish may be caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites which may be animal or plant origin. Unsuitable diet or wrong water temperature increases the possibility of saltwater fish illness.

Preclusion of saltwater fish illnesses.
1. Do not overcrowd the fish tank. Crowding is the primary source of stress that can eventually lead to parasitic incursion.
2. Confine newly acquired fish in a separate container for no less than two weeks.
3. Use a good quality filter and regularly clean it since a lot of parasites hate moving water conditions.

Symptoms of saltwater fish illnesses.

3. General paling- indication of lack of oxygen or tuberculosis
4. Rocking of body and fin clamping- sign of general malaise or internal disease
5. Resting at the bottom- indication of inflammation of the air bladder or tuberculosis
6. Weight loss- sign of internal disease

Poisoning under saltwater fish illnesses.
Here are some products and/or chemicals that can cause poison in your fishes.
1. Plastic- Your aquarium accessories such as plants or stones are usually made from plastic. Particularly dangerous on the fishes in the fish tank are the objects made of polypropylene that is slowly dissolves in water. One way to prevent this is to buy accessories that are solely made for aquariums.
2. Poison from home stuff and owners’ habit- Even a cigarette smoke can cause poison to your aquarium. Home insecticides can cause poison as well. To prevent this kind of poisoning, make a conscious effort to cover your aquarium if you’re using home cleaning agents. If you’re going to smoke, make sure that you’re far from your fish tank.
3. Spoiled food- Before feeding your fishes, check the quality of their food first. It doesn’t matter if it’s live, frozen or dry. The moment you realize it’s already spoiled or has molded throw already. If humans can’t eat rotten foods then why should we expect the fish to do so?
Proper caring for your fishes can go a long way. But of course, there’s always a possibility that your fish will get sick even if you do your assignment right. So another tip for you is to have an emergency medicine kit for your fishes. Ask for basic medicines from your vet and stock some at home. That way if there’s an unexpected illness you are prepared to cure it.

Do you want Flounder and Ariel’s friends have a nice stay at your home aquarium? Is diving not very accessible for you and you want a miniature version of the ocean at your home? Or you just simply love the leisure of doing saltwater fish aquarium care but you are drowning with questions on how and what to do about it? Here are some saltwater fish aquarium care do’s and don’ts to help you make the habitat of your pet fishes a smooth-sailing one.

DO think about their future. In starting this hobby, part of a saltwater fish aquarium care is to think about the growth of the fishes. You should a lot 2-3 gallons of water per inch of the size of your pet. With this you are helping your pet prevent claustrophobia. Overcrowding is a no-no for the health of your fish since this can cause stress and stress kills.
Another saltwater fish aquarium care tip is to DO take into consideration the chemical content of the water you are using. You do not want your pet drowning from chlorine. There are chemicals to take this out of the water or you can get a RO/DI and it will take it out for you. Remember that their regular habitat was the natural salty component of the ocean. The Aquarium is a whole new world for them.
Do schedule a regular general cleaning of their home. You will either have to do weekly, bi weekly, or monthly water changes. This will be determined by the size of tank you have and how many fish you have in the tank. Unlike in a freshwater tank where you can look at the water and if it look cloudy you need to do something in saltwater you don’t get that lucky. The saltwater fish can not take a major swing in their water. You have to make sure when it is time to do a water change you already have the water made up to the right salinity and the temperature is right with the tank.

Don’t forget to buy the proper accessories such as live rock and the filtration system for your pet’s new aquarium home. A good quality tank, a proper sized aquarium in proportion to the number of fish you are going to take care, sufficient number of fish food and good quality sand are the basic things you must consider as part of your saltwater fish aquarium care.

Don’t forget to feed your fish but not too much. For a proper saltwater fish aquarium care, make sure you know the types of fish and there eating habbits. Some but not all eat 2-3 times a day of a small amount of fish food. Some in this hobby will only feed once a day while others say they only feed every other day. Always be careful not to spoil them with eating. Be aware if they are already full. Another reason you do not want to over feed is it will cause water problems.
Don’t forget to consult books or the internet. Research is very important for more tips on how to take care of these living creatures. Experiences from other hobbyists are also great sources for getting practical tips on saltwater fish aquarium care. Join clubs or forums. Talk to people with the same interest as yours. Or make a blog with your own stories. You never know, people reading it might have similar situations and you could exchange views and tips. Experience still is the best teacher.
And finally, do enjoy your hobby. Treat these creatures like family. Love them and take care of them passionately. From the many fishes from the ocean your pets at home are the chosen ones. Make their stay at their new world a proper and meaningful one. Don’t forget that these are creatures that we should take care of as part of our responsibility to mother earth, including her saltwaters.

Unlike having freshwater fish as pets, you would usually encounter some mild problems when it comes to taking care of saltwater fish. Some of the difficulties you would encounter are different aquarium set-up, lighting system, and water composition. But if you really want to pursue your choice of having saltwater fish for your pets, it will just be easy to combat these problems.

Saltwater FIsh Foods

Opting for saltwater fishes is also as fun as having freshwater fishes. The only major difference between the two is that the former need saltwater and the later need fresh water. But aside from this major difference, you should also consider the physiologic needs of your fishes, and one of them is the food they eat. You should keep in mind that saltwater fishes eat a different kind of food, and there are special saltwater fish foods being manufactured for them.
The first kind of saltwater fish foods being sold in pet shops are the Marine Flakes. This is usually considered as a major fish food for saltwater fishes, because it contains almost a complete set of vitamins, minerals, as well as carbohydrates, fats and proteins. This is also cheaper compared to other types of saltwater fish foods.

Saltwater Fish Foods

The next type is the Brine Shrimp. In the sea, fishes love to eat tiny crustaceans. That is why there are fish food manufacturers that created this type of fish food. It is considered to be rich in protein and other essential minerals.
Another type of saltwater fish foods is the Krill. This fish food is very rich in protein and it is usually given to supplement the fishes’ diet. It comes in several forms, like dried flakes and tiny pellets. Some researchers also noted that this type of food is essential in promoting a brighter color fish.
On the other hand, there are also marine pellets, which are indicated mostly on marine fishes. Just like marine flakes, this type of fish food also contains a complete set of essential nutrients in the food group. This is the second most famous saltwater fish foods being used by hobbyists.

Saltwater Fish Foods

The fifth type of fish food for saltwater fish is the Plankton. It is very rich in lipid, beta carotene, and protein, and it is also used as a food supplement. This type of fish food is also ideal, especially when the fishes experience stress.
The last type of saltwater fish foods is the seaweed. There are some types of saltwater and fresh water fish that loves to feed on plants and seaweeds. That is why, many hobbyist prefer to serve their pets with this type of fish food to add some variation to their diet. Seaweeds are good in promoting proper digestion and excretion of waste and toxins from the fish’s body.
All of these saltwater fish foods vary in price, and you can try having a canvass on different pet stores before deciding on which one to opt. It is also ideal to offer your pets a certain type once in a while so that they can also gain more essential nutrients, and enjoy a more scrumptious diet.
